Frequently asked questions.
Here you'll find answers to some of the most common questions about working with me, oncology nutrition, consultations and personalised nutrition support.
-
I specialise in supporting people during cancer treatment, recovery and survivorship.
This may include people preparing for treatment, undergoing chemotherapy, radiation, surgery or other cancer therapies, recovering after treatment, receiving longer-term endocrine or targeted therapies, or looking to improve their health in the years following cancer.
I also provide individual clinical nutrition consultations for people seeking support with broader nutrition and health concerns.
-
Individual consultations are suitable if you're looking for a comprehensive nutrition assessment and personalised recommendations without ongoing program support.
My private oncology and cancer survivorship programs are designed for people who would benefit from working together over several months. They include regular one-to-one consultations, personalised nutrition and lifestyle recommendations, pathology and supplement review where appropriate, resources and support between appointments.
Most program clients work with me for approximately 3–6 months.

Nutrition support can be useful at many stages of the cancer journey, from preparing for treatment through to active treatment, recovery and longer-term survivorship.
The priorities will differ depending on your diagnosis, treatment, symptoms, nutritional status and overall health.
-
Yes. My role is to complement your medical care, not replace it.
With your consent, I can communicate with members of your healthcare team where appropriate to support coordinated care.
-
Yes. Supplement safety is an important part of my oncology work.
Supplements aren't automatically safe simply because they're natural, and some nutrients, herbs and other products may interact with cancer treatments or medications.
Where supplements are being considered, I assess their purpose, available evidence, dose, timing, potential interactions, your treatment and relevant pathology before making recommendations.
-
Not necessarily.
Food forms the foundation of my approach. Supplements are used strategically when there is a clear nutritional or clinical rationale rather than simply being added routinely.
-
Yes, but there isn't one diet that's appropriate for everyone undergoing cancer treatment.
Recommendations depend on your treatment, symptoms, appetite, weight, nutritional requirements and other health considerations.
Nutrition strategies may focus on maintaining energy and protein intake, supporting muscle and nutritional status, managing treatment-related eating difficulties, maintaining hydration and adapting food choices as symptoms change.
-
Absolutely.
Cancer survivorship is a major focus of my clinical and research work.
After treatment, nutrition priorities may include rebuilding strength and muscle, weight and body composition, cardiovascular and metabolic health, bone health, menopause or treatment-related hormonal changes, gut health, pathology and developing sustainable habits for long-term health.
-
Your initial consultation is a comprehensive assessment of your health, nutrition and lifestyle.
We'll discuss your current concerns and goals, medical and treatment history, diet, lifestyle, relevant pathology, medications and supplements, family history and other factors that may be important to your health.
Following the consultation, you'll receive personalised recommendations based on your individual needs.
-
No. You don't need a referral to work with me. However, I strongly value collaborative care and, with your consent, can communicate with your GP, oncologist or other healthcare professionals where appropriate.
-
If you have recent pathology results, bringing them to your consultation can be very helpful.
Depending on your circumstances, I may also recommend discussing additional pathology testing with your GP where it could provide useful information for your nutrition care.
-
Yes. Telehealth allows me to work with clients across Australia.
